Stop Giving Away Your Solar Power - The Battery Rebate You Need to Know About
If you’ve already got solar on your roof, you’re off to a good start. You’re one of over 4 million homes across Australia doing the right thing for your bills and the planet.
What the Power Companies Aren’t Telling You
Here’s the deal:
They’ll pay you just 2 to 4 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) for the extra solar you send back to the grid
Then they’ll charge you about 34 cents per kWh when you need power at night
Feed-in tariffs keep dropping, which means you’re getting less back every year
So while your panels are pumping during the day, your savings aren’t stacking up like they used to.
It’s like selling your own produce to the shops cheap, then buying it back later for ten times the price.
Why This Matters More Than Ever
Over 4 million Australian homes now have rooftop solar, making us a global leader in solar adoption (The Guardian)
Only around 320,000 homes have added a battery, so most are still buying back their own power at night (ABC News)
Feed-in tariffs have dropped by up to 99.93% in the last 15 years (ABC News)
Here’s the fix: install a solar battery
A solar battery stores the power your system generates during the day so you can use it when it actually matters – in the evening, overnight, or during a blackout.Instead of buying your own power back, you’re keeping it in your own hands. Literally.
The Rebate You Shouldn’t Miss
Starting 1 July 2025, the Federal Government is offering a 30 to 40 percent rebate for eligible households to install battery storage.
That could mean a $3,000 to $5,000 discount, depending on your system size.
But just because there’s a rebate, doesn’t mean it’s the right move for everyone.
That’s why I’m offering to check your bill and let you know straight up if a battery makes sense for you.
No cookie cutter pitch. Just proper advice.
Is Your Energy Retailer Playing Fair?
Some energy retailers make it hard to actually use your solar properly.
They’ll:
Lock you into low feed-in tariffs
Hit you with peak time rates
Add daily supply charges that chew into your savings
Restrict what you can do with batteries or smart meters
But a few smarter energy retailers are starting to flip the script. Some let you sell your excess solar at wholesale rates during peak times.
That means instead of getting 4 cents per kWh, you could earn 20, 30 or even 50 cents when demand is high.
Not every setup can do this, but with the right battery and provider, it could actually turn into a nice little side hustle.
That’s why I look at the whole setup – not just the battery. It’s not just about storage. It’s about strategy.
What Does It Actually Mean for You?
Let’s say you’re a family of four with a pool pump, two air cons, and a second fridge.
Your solar panels are probably exporting heaps of unused power during the day – and you’re still paying full price to run your home at night.
A battery could reduce that night usage, slash your power bills, and give you backup during blackouts.
Some of people barely pay a power bill now.
Others are just starting to explore it.
Either way, I’ll tell you if it makes sense - or if you’re better off waiting.
Why I’m Getting Involved
I’ve partnered up with a trusted local solar company to help bring this offer to my customers.
I actually did part of my electrical apprenticeship with the owner, so I know firsthand they do quality work. No shortcuts. No sales pressure. I wouldn’t be teaming up with them if I didn’t trust them completely.
We’re working together to make sure locals get the right advice and don’t miss out on what could be a massive saving.
Want to Know if It’s Worth It?
Every home’s different, so I’m offering to take a look and let you know if a solar battery stacks up for your setup.
Just fill out the form below and I’ll send you an email with what I need — usually just a copy of your summer or winter power bill (both if you’ve got them, but one is fine).
No pushy sales talk. Just honest advice from a local who knows the gear and wants to help you make the right call.
